  • Cacabelos: good midpoint for cafes. last stop until Villafranca del Bierzo

• Where to Stay

  • Albergue De Piedra:18€. recommend. (Right on Camino and near grocery store).

  • Albergue Leo: 14€

  • Albergue El Campano:25-55€

• Tips for Future Pilgrims

  • Plan ahead—bring water.

  • There is very little shade. Most of the day is spent climbing treeless hills and fields.

  • This is a great town for a rest day and stock up on the things you need.

  • Alternative transportation: available buses and taxis to the next stage

  • Rest up for the next stage, O’Cebriero. It’s beautiful, and if you can do the climb in one day,plan an overnight stay, it’s magical. WARNING: Many pilgrims split the climb. It’s brutal!

Beautiful hike to Villafranca del Bierzo. The town has everything you may need. I happened to be there on market day. This town is a great place for a rest day.
