Difficulty: Moderate to Hard
Key Landmarks: Passing the 100 km-to-Santiago milestone marker, the medieval bridge of Ponte Áspera, and the Miño River entry into Portomarín.

I didn't list the towns and water stops because this is a very popular section of the Camino Frances. There will be hamlets and villages readily available about every 2-3 kilometers.

Water Safety: There are many water fountains along this path. Be sure these fountains say"Agua Potable" (drinking water). If it has been raining, please use bottled water. Many pilgrims were having stomach problems. The consensus was the water.
Always carry cash. Many cafés accept credit cards or mobile payments, but the smaller village stalls or donativo fruit stops occasionally require cash.

Today's hike toward Portomarín was one of the good ones — quiet enjoyment, even with the sky staying grey and drizzly. The town has a lovely square. I sat at a small restaurant and ordered steak and fried potatoes for dinner. Out of nowhere, someone handed me a packet of Heinz ketchup — such an American staple. The familiar taste was wonderful. I smiled at how I had taken this simple condiment for granted, and it made me a little homesick. Everything in this region feels bigger — more infrastructure, more people, more noise. Beneath today's enjoyment, there's a quiet awareness creeping in that the end of this journey isn't far off. - That Eva!
